This guy's dam is one of the cutest alpacas around. Not once, but twice with different males, she has birthed babies loaded with fleece and we mean really loaded, besides absolutely adorable ! We loved this guys older sister and thought about a repeat breed but decided to go for a bigger sized guy. Zurich, his dam is dark silver grey, with great fleece coverage but she is petite or height challenged, so we chose tall, dark and handsome Dancing Elk's Romeo. We were not sure if this guys fleece would go rose grey but considering his color consistency scores we think he is bay black. With his coverage and wrinkled body, despite his small size at start, he looked like herdsire material to us early on.

We need to upload video of his bright springy, crimped fleece. You open up that fleece and the crimpy bundles spring out! We refer to Romeo's Raise the Roof as "Roofus". He is big in personality still hoping he grows into it. He is nearing 3 years old and we are routing for him to grow more in size like his sire.

We showed him at Gold Country Gathering and he took a first place in Bred and Owned and a 3rd in walking fleece. Even though he got a 3rd he actually scored higher than two of our 2nd place winners - very commendable scores 19/20 in fineness handle 7.5 uniformity of micron and brightness 8 in crimp... We entered him at GWAS and he took a 1st place in his class of 6, against industry greats. His fleece score from Diana Timmerman was commendable she commented he is receiving mostly all top scores. He received a total of 71.5 points of 80 with 5 of 4 uniformity of length, 18.5/20 fineness/handle. 4.5/5 secondary to primary range, 5 of 5 absence of fibers greater than 30 a 8.5/10 uniformity of micron, 8.5/10 crimp 4/5 density 8.5/10 brightness and 4/5 color consistency 5 of 5 damage. We are so excited about these scores in such a dark color - the uniformity, fineness & secondary to primary ratio.
His histogram just came back from his 2022 shear and it was 23.5 and 4.8 SD.

With grey in his pedigree from his adorable dam and nice robust frame from his sire, we hope he continues to grow up gorgeous.
