This is a nice grey guy! Besides his cute factor, he is so nice to handle that he was used to film a Bud light commercial and we have taken him to public events. He was also just featured on live TV in San Diego & he hasn't kicked or spit - how's that for bragging rights lol. Not sure on permissions to use their photos so check it out yourself on Tonight in San Diego facebook or website.
This guy throws grey even when bred to beige! He has had both a medium silver grey & a dark silver grey... |

Technically, this is the girl that started it all for us since she and her mom were the first alpacas we brought home from Alpacas at Windy Hill. In short, we have been enjoying the ride ever since. Hence, I initially had dubbed her "Destiny" instead of Deborah (since it seemed strange to call her my sister-in-law's name). Then I ended up naming her daughter Destiny. So we were back to the name of Deborah.
Her fleece is heavily influenced by her lovely sire, Maximillian of PVA who was sire... |

Daffodil just fits her name. Makes me think of a cheery flower that just looking at them brightens your day. She is one of those crias with a stand-out personality - spunky, playful girl, that loves to visit. She is cute & confident, was born sturdy and strong. One of those born at 18 pounds & weighing 33 pounds at one month...
You have to almost laugh at the picture of her being delivered. Her mom is calmly grazing as Daffodil is making her grand entrance. Really the kind of foundation dam you hope to have, nice sized crias, easy delivery and great milk producer. An indication she may pass those birthing traits to her offspring. Besides her dam has one of our best fleeces of our foundation 21.2 AFD and 4.6 SD - fine and uniform in a breeding female.
Daffodil is sired by Alpaca Knolls Caleb, a medium silver grey guy maintaining nice fineness and uniformity for his age. We love that guy and Daffodil's full sister, Destiny sired by him, is medium silver grey with a 19.7 AFD. At an alpaca show hosted by SoCalPaca recently her fleece was noted by Dale Davis to have nice brightness, fineness with a note uniformity may come along. We think with her fleece characteristics and potential for almost any color, she will make a nice foundation female.
We hadn't had a chance to halter work with her before the event and she stood still for us without a halter - let judge examine her fleece, conformation etc and when we took her back to her pasture she didn't make a fuss and run right back to mom. Her first halter lesson recently went off without a fuss too. I think she would be nice for with someone with kids or just starting out since her nature just seems like she will be a joy to work with.
She is just about to be weaned and is priced to sell - it would be good to get her before she gets big since she is growing so fast!
